Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has switched from wearing the number 25 jersey to the number 6 shirt at Leicester City.

This change comes nine years after Wilfred Ndidi started wearing the number 25 shirt following his move from Genk.

Leicester City announced this via their official website as they unveiled their players’ squad numbers for the 2024-2025 season.

Nine years ago, during his professional debut at Racing Genk, Ndidi sported the number 25 jersey in a Pro League match against Royal Charleroi S.C.

Now, he has opted to switch to the number 6 jersey, previously worn by Jonny Evans (now at Manchester United) and Robert Huth, who holds the record for the most appearances by a German player in the English top flight.

Despite earlier speculation about Ndidi potentially leaving Leicester City when his contract expires in June, he has instead extended his stay at the club by signing a new contract that is set to run until June 2027.

Since joining the former Premier League champions, Ndidi has made 273 appearances across all competitions, contributing 17 goals and 17 assists.

Meanwhile, the Italian-Nigerian defender, Caleb Okoli is set to wear the number 5 jersey at Leicester City. This number was previously worn by club legend Wes Morgan and Chelsea Academy alumnus Ryan Bertrand during their tenures with the Foxes.

Okoli, who recently joined from Atalanta this summer, is preparing for his first season at the club and is a contender to make his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur at 8 p.m. on Monday, August 20.
