The captain of the Super Eagles, William Troost-Ekong, has arrived in Saudi Arabia in anticipation of his transfer to Al-Kholood in the Saudi Pro League.

William Troost-Ekong is on the brink of departing PAOK for the Saudi side ahead of the 2024-2025 season, following the successful negotiation of a transfer fee between the two clubs.

After reaching an agreement on personal terms with his new club, Troost-Ekong is now only required to undergo medical examinations to finalize the move.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the 30-year-old Nigerian defender and his agent are en route to Saudi Arabia, with all signs pointing to a forthcoming deal with Al-Kholood.

Reports claimed that Shabab Al-Ahli also expressed interest in signing the experienced defender, with manager Paulo Souza believed to have played a role in their pursuit due to his previous working relationship with Troost-Ekong. However, Al-Kholood have emerged as the frontrunner in securing the services of the Nigerian player for the upcoming season.

Recall that Troost-Ekong clinched the Greek Super League title with PAOK FC in the 2023/2024 season, but he is now poised to continue his career in the Middle East. Provided that everything proceeds smoothly, the defender is expected to finalize his transfer after completing his medical examinations.
