Amid the bustling energy of one of Africa’s most vibrant cities, Lagos, a groundbreaking partnership has been forged; it is a union between the visionary artist, Dr. Fola David and Vesti, a leading fintech company dedicated to empowering immigrants. It also aimed to create a monumental artwork that not only sets a world record, but serves as a powerful symbol of unity in Nigeria’s rich tapestry of cultures.

Fola David, a name synonymous with artistic brilliance and cultural advocacy, has long been recognised for his ability to translate the complexity of human emotions and societal themes into visual masterpieces.

His latest project, aptly titled, Unity in Diversity, seeks to do more than just break records; it aims to bridge the divide that has often fragmented Nigeria’s social fabric.

The project is ambitious in both scope and vision, as David tries to create the largest drawing ever made by an individual, a feat that required not just artistic skill, but immense dedication and a deep connection to the theme.

The final piece, which spans an astonishing 1,050 square metres, shattered the previous Guinness World Record of 629.98 square meters, held by Ravi Soni of India. This colossal artwork is more than just a record-breaking achievement; it is a visual representation of Nigeria’s diverse cultures, intricately woven together in a single, unified canvas.

Recognising the significance of this project, Vesti, led by its Co-founder and CEO Olusola Amusan, pledged a substantial sponsorship of N25 million to support David’s endeavour.

Vesti, a company known for its commitment to empowering individuals with exceptional abilities, saw in David’s project, an opportunity to further its mission on a grand scale.

For Amusan and his team, the “Unity in Diversity” initiative resonates deeply with their values and the company’s broader goals. During a recent visit to Vesti’s Lagos office, David and the Vesti team discussed the project in detail, exploring various avenues for collaboration.

The meeting marked the official commencement of their partnership, a union that underscores a shared commitment to showcasing Nigeria’s exceptional talent on a global stage.

“I am deeply grateful for Vesti’s belief in my vision,” David said, reflecting on the significance of the partnership, adding: “Their support is invaluable as I embark on this historic journey. Together, we are creating a powerful statement about Nigeria’s unity and diversity.”

The project is more than an artistic endeavour; but a cultural movement. Through this artwork, David seeks to inspire a sense of pride and belonging among Nigerians, encouraging them to embrace their heritage and see the beauty in their collective identity.

The artwork itself is a mosaic of Nigeria’s various tribes, each one represented in a way that highlights its unique characteristics while also contributing to the overall narrative of unity.

Vesti’s involvement in the project extends beyond the generous financial sponsorship. The company plans to leverage its platform and global connections to amplify David’s mission.

By providing professional guidance on global mobility and facilitating international partnerships, Vesti aims to ensure that Dr. David’s work receives the global recognition it deserves.

“We are honoured to support David’s visionary project,” Amusan stated. “The ‘Unity in Diversity’ initiative aligns perfectly with Vesti’s mission to empower individuals with exceptional ability and celebrate the richness of our culture. We believe this partnership will inspire others to embrace their heritage and contribute to building a more united Nigeria.”
