The Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has directed the ministry of Agriculture and Natural resources to handover all the facilities of Nazari Livestock Development Centre in Jakusko local government constructed by Yobe State government and federal government to leaders of Fulani herdsmen (Lamidos, Jauros and Ardo) of the host communities.

A statement issued by the Chief Information Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hajiya Aisha Tijja said the Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali gave the directive during an inspection visit of the grazing reserve.
The governor stated that the handing over became necessary, taking into cognisance the billions of naira injected by the Yobe State government in collaboration with the federal government on the construction of the reserve, which is the second-largest livestock development centre in sub-Saharan Africa.

Buni reassured the readiness of the government towards supporting the grazing reserve for socio-economic growth and development of livestock production in the state.

The governor noted that the Nazari/ Jakusko grazing reserve, which has a capacity of over eighty thousand hectares of land with different structures, was constructed for herders as part of the dividend of democracy as well as promoting peace between farmers and herders in Yobe state.

He said the construction of the Nazari Livestock Development Centre was a deliberate policy by his administration to settle headers in one place for them to graze in one place and enroll their children to school.

Conducting the Governor round the project, the Commissioner Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon Ali Mustapha Goniri, Said the projects were completed and ready for commissioning.
He said the project will no doubt enhance livestock production in the state especially that Yobe is the major producer of livestock in the country.

The Commissioner further stated that the project is ready for handover to the host community for value on the money spent.
