Yobe govt vows support for Red Cross

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has pledged his unwavering support for the Nigeria Red Cross Society, an organisation dedicated to promoting healthcare and upholding the sanctity of human life.

The governor made this commitment during a courtesy visit by members of the Nigeria Red Cross Society National Headquarters, led by its Secretary General, Dr Abubakar Ahmad Kenda, at the Government House in Damaturu.

Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana, who represented Buni, was honoured as the Deputy Patron of the Yobe State Branch.

Recognising the vital role of the Red Cross in society, the Deputy Governor emphasised the organisation’s independent and altruistic nature, stating, “Their invaluable contributions to societal well-being are immeasurable.”

The governor’s representative assured the Red Cross Society of the Yobe State government’s full support to facilitate their humanitarian activities, particularly in terms of mobility and collaboration with other aid agencies for effective coordination.

During the visit, National Legal Adviser Barrister Usman Mohammed Dikwa highlighted the purpose of decorating the governor and deputy governor as State Patron and Deputy State Patron, respectively, and the induction of the State Governing Board with Justice Ibrahim Wakili Jauro as Chairman.

Seeking support from the state and relevant agencies for humanitarian endeavours and disaster management, Barrister Dikwa emphasised the significant role of over 2000 Red Cross volunteers in Yobe, dedicated to safeguarding lives and providing relief in times of emergencies.
