Renowned American rapper Jeffery Williams, better known as Young Thug, has been released from prison after serving two years following a plea deal in a high-profile racketeering case.

Young Thug was arrested in May 2022 as part of a significant law enforcement operation targeting gang-related activities in Georgia. He was one of 28 individuals named in a sweeping 56-count indictment involving violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. The indictment accused him of being a founding member of the Young Slime Life (YSL) gang, facing charges of conspiracy to violate the RICO Act and engaging in criminal street gang activity.

On Thursday, Young Thug accepted a plea deal, pleading no contest to charges related to RICO violations and gang leadership, as well as guilty pleas to two gun charges and three drug charges. In response, the judge sentenced him to 15 years of probation instead of the originally recommended 45 years, which included a potential 25-year prison term.

As part of his sentencing, Young Thug is required to complete 100 hours of community service each year and conduct anti-gang presentations for children four times a year. These measures aim to address the impact of gang violence and promote positive choices among youth.
