‘Your Statement Is Poorly Written, Lies To Belittle My Contribution In APC’ – Doguwa Tells Jibrin

Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on petroleum resources (downstream), Alhassan Doguwa, has countered his colleague, Abdulmumin Jibrin, over a statement regarding his strength in the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that Jibrin, a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), had, in a statement, described Doguwa as one of the obstacles to peace in Kano state.

Recall that the two lawmakers from Kano State have been engaged in a war of words.

Responding to Jibrin’s recent remark, Doguwa, in a statement on Sunday, said he is the pride of the APC in Kano state, and his colleague’s statement aims to belittle his strength and contribution to the party.

Doguwa said he would always choose peace over his political ambition, stressing that he has maintained a clean track record as the longest-serving member in the country.

He asked Jibrin to present his achievements as a fourth-term lawmaker in the lower chamber.

The statement reads, “Once again, I am compelled to respond to the poorly written lies by Abdulmumin Jibrin which seeks to belittle my political strength and contributions to my great party, the All Progressives Congress.

“In a statement credited to Jibrin, the lawmaker described me as an obstacle to peace in Kano state and a liability to the APC.

“I will always choose peace over my political ambition, which is not worth the blood of any human.

“My peaceful nature and attitude can best be confirmed by my mutual relationship with my constituents, the traditional rulers, Ulammas and above all my timely support to the different security agents of the police, the military, Civil Defence and the local vigilante groups whom I support in many ways, such as distribution of operational vehicles, motorcycles, and other supportive materials and resources.

“I have never been suspended or found wanting for over 33 years as a member of the house of representatives. Today, I am, with the highest sense of humility, the longest serving member in the entire country.

“By the grace of Allah and the leadership of the 10th house of representatives under Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, I chair the house standing committee on petroleum resources (upstream), and special committee on crude oil theft.”
