Youths have been charged to involve the services of lawyers while exploring and managing their talents.

This was said to prevent intellectual property theft or exploitation of one’s talent or skills.

It was the subject of discussion at the 10th anniversary of Relationship Entrepreneurship Career Arts Leadership and Politics (RECALP), organised by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, YAYA LP 19, held in Lagos.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Doyin Awoyale, emphasised the need for youths to consult lawyers before taking relevant steps to ensure their actions are within the legal frameworks to avoid violating any law.

He urged the youths to seek advice from lawyers before setting up businesses and urged them to desist from get-rich-quick syndrome.

He stated the need for continuous learning and mentorship to experience required growth.

Host, RECALP, Cyprian Orakpo, who noted the impact the conference has garnered within its 10 years of existence, said the event is about building a well rounded youth.

“The R in RECALP is for relationships. Life is all about relationships. Youths are full of creativity and innovation and you can’t talk about entrepreneurship without creativity and innovation.

“The vision is to encourage the youths into entrepreneurship. This is the best time to be an entrepreneur in Nigeria because there are no jobs.

“We also have to create a platform of career development by bringing professionals that will enlighten them. Another aspect is Art whereby the youths are encouraged to hone their talents,” Orakpo said.

Convener, Chess to Slums Africa, Tunde Onakoya, stated that the major challenge of youths in Nigeria is dearth of opportunities.

He charged them to have faith in their ideas, push for greatness and have the courage to do hard things as a means to surmount the challenges.

Convener, RECALP, Femi Aminu, said a key challenge youths face is distraction, which can be seen through drug abuse and the use of the internet.
