The Jigawa State Police Command has assured the Christian community in the state of peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations.
In a statement signed on Tuesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Adam, the command said it has deployed conventional police, mobile policemen, and other security personnel in churches, recreation centres, and public places across the state.

According to the PPRO, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Abdullahi, warned officers deployed for the critical assignment to be courteous, civil, and professional while carrying out their legitimate responsibilities, saying that, “We urge our officers to be mindful of their conduct and ensure that they respect the rights of all citizens.”
The command disclosed that it has also collaborated with other sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure a peaceful celebration.
“We are working closely with other security agencies to ensure that there are no security breaches during the celebrations,” Abdullahi said.
The command also vowed to apprehend any miscreants who may attempt to disrupt the celebrations.
“We will not tolerate any form of troublemaking or disruption of public order, and anyone found guilty of such offences will be brought before a court of justice to face the full wrath of the law,” the statement added.
The command has also urged members of the public to be security conscious and report any suspicious movements or objects to the nearest police station or security agency.
