Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the construction of an ultra-modern Central Motor Park in Gusau town, the state capital.

This was contained in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Suleiman Idris, and made available to newsmen on Wednesday.

Idris said the governor had on Tuesday chaired an extraordinary council meeting with the State Executives at the Government House, Gusau where vital issues beneficial to the state were discussed.

According to him, the council approved the award of the contract for the construction of the Ultra-modern Central Motor Park to Fieldmark Construction Ltd, amounting to N4,854,135,954.53.

He said, “‘The construction of the park is a crucial component of the state’s Urban Renewal Program and will significantly enhance the state’s transport infrastructure and service delivery”.

“The project is to be jointly funded by the Ministry for Local Government and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Tourism, while the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure will supervise the execution of the project”.

‘The Ministry of Works has already designed and developed an in-house bill for the project and submitted it to the State Bureau of Public Procurement, which has provided no objections to the proposal”.

Idris explained that the Ultra-modern Central Motor Park included the construction of offices for government and union use, the establishment of a fire station and the construction of guest lodges.

Other components according to Idris included the development of a clinic, the setting up of a police station, the creation of a warehouse, the installation of a POS centre, and the establishment of a mechanical centre and car wash.
