Zamfara Lawmaker Supports Wedding Of 105 Orphans

The member of the House of Representatives representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, Abdulmalik Zubairu, yesterday supported the mass wedding of 105  girls who lost their parents as a result of banditry in the constituency.

In his speech after the wedding fatiha led by Sheik Liman Musa Kura in Bungudu town, headquarters of the local government, the lawmaker said the gesture was to support victims of banditry.

He said as part of Islamic rights and  ethics, it is parents that undertake the responsibility of marriage issues, stressing that as orphans, he decided to intervene by supporting  them with all the marriage responsibilities.

He said under the programme to mark his one year in the legislative office, he had purchased sets of beds, cushion chairs and utensils, in addition to N100,000, and N50,000 for each couple to start up businesses life at their respective homes.

The lawmaker commended his political mentors, Senator Abdul’aziz  Yari and Minister of State Defence  Bello Matawalle for their advice and encouragement  in carrying out the programme.

In his speech Senator Kawu Sumaila, the special guest of honor, commended the lawmaker for his initiative and urged him to continue with his good works.
