Zeta Power begins CNG kit importation

Zeta Power says it has partnered with an Italian company named Tartarini Auto Industries to begin the importation of Compressed Natural Gas Conversion kits.

The company said in a statement that this was part of its plan to support the country’s energy transition plans as the world moves away from the use of fossil fuel.

The Chairman of Zeta Power, Olusegun Aka-Basorun, told our correspondent in an interview that the company was working with the Presidential CNG Initiative to help ensure the availability of conversion kits needed to change petrol-powered vehicles to gas.

According to Bashorun, the synergy with Tartarini is to provide vehicle owners with an efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fuel systems.

“The new CNG conversion kits from Tartarini are engineered to meet the highest standards of performance and reliability,” Aka-Basorun said, adding that this would optimise fuel consumption and reduce operating costs for vehicle owners.

He added that CNG is a cleaner fuel, significantly reducing carbon emissions and contributing to a healthier environment.

Allaying fears, he explained that CNG is safe with no side effects on the vehicle.

Aka-Basorun urged converters to ensure the use of the right specification of kits for different vehicles, stressing that there are different kits for different vehicles.

He posited that the kits are compatible with a wide range of petrol vehicle models, equipped with advanced safety features to ensure safe operation under various driving conditions.

“The introduction of our CNG conversion kits aligns with our commitment to environmental responsibility and innovation. By enabling vehicles to run on CNG, we are helping to reduce dependence on liquid fossil fuels and lower greenhouse gas emissions,” he stated.

President Bola Tinubu recently disclosed that his administration would be distributing one million kits of extremely low or no cost to commercial vehicle owners transporting people and goods, who currently consume 80 per cent of the imported Premium Motor Spirit and Automotive Gas Oil.

“We have started the distribution of conversion kits and the setting up of conversion centres across the country in conjunction with the private sector. We believe that this CNG initiative will reduce transportation costs by approximately 60 per cent and help to curb inflation,” Tinubu disclosed.
