The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has stated that the death of Jonathan Silas Zwingina has robbed the nation of a grassroots mobiliser and courageous patriot who stood against disunity and the declining moral fabric of the country.
In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, NOA director general Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu described the late Jonathan Zwingina as a gifted and diligent mobiliser who, in both private and public life, championed the unity, progress, and development of the nation.
He noted that as a pioneer director in the former Mass Mobilization for Self-Reliance, Social Justice, and Economic Recovery (MAMSER), now NOA, Zwingina was among the officers who laid the foundation for the agency’s work in promoting the virtues of hard work, integrity, sincerity, forthrightness, and tolerance—values that remain the core of the nation.
He said, “Having served as a parliamentarian and chaired many committees, among other roles, his eloquence, articulation, and courage in speaking the truth distinguished him throughout his lifetime. Indeed, he was a father, a mentor, a hero, and a pillar to many, both in the political and moral spheres.”
Issa-Onilu also highlighted Zwingina’s devotion to family and community values, emphasizing his advocacy for unity and development in the country.
He added that Zwingina used his oratory skills to promote unity, love, peace, and togetherness in Nigeria at a time when many were fanning the flames of disunity and disintegration.
He urged the family to take solace in the many accomplishments of the politician, particularly his dedication to the cause of national unity, which earned him admiration and recognition across social, ethnic, religious, and political lines.
