A group, the Iwere Royal Society, on Friday, presented a drama before the Olu of Warri Kingdom, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse III, as he celebrated his third coronation anniversary.

The drama titled, ‘Echoes of Our Ancestry’ depicts how the Itsekiri people migrated from Ife to Abomeh, Ilaje and settled in Ode-Itsekiri, as their ancestral home in present-day Delta State.

The drama was presented before the reverred monarch with his Queen and an array of some of his chiefs present at the palace hall located at Ode-Itsekiri in Warri South local government area of Delta State.

In an interview with LEADERSHIP, the group’s Stage Manager, Pastor Oritseweyimi Jerry Otuedon, explained that the story was about how Ureju came to be.

According to him, Ureju is one of the harbouring communities. “So,we have to show how the people of Ureju came into existence starting from Ife and how they migrated and travelled along the events that happened within the way. How they got married and how the children took leadership until they got to a place known as Abomeh.”

The Olu of Warri Kingdom, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse III, offered prayers for the group. He said the drama piece will take them to places. He added that whatever their heart desires were what they will get it.
