A total of 49 suspects have been apprehended by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps across the Ikoyi and Victoria Island area of Lagos.

The comprehensive operation was launched in the Corps’ effort to get rid of miscreants, maintain law and order, and as well restore sanity in the state.

Lagos State Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Hon. Tokunbo Wahab disclosed in a statement, stressing that the raid aims to enforce a safe and orderly environment for residents and businesses.

According to him, “Over the course of the night, the dedicated operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) patrol team covered key areas including Idowu Martins, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Akin Adesola, Samuel Manuwa, Muri Okunola, Ajose Adeogun, Lugard Avenue, Macdonald Road and other areas in Ikoyi and Victoria Island.”

The commissioner added that the corps in carrying out the raid targeted enhancing security and maintaining order across these neighbourhoods as part of the zero-tolerance for crime and Cleaner Lagos initiative of the state government.

“In the course of the patrols, 49 miscreants and illegal street traders were apprehended, reinforcing our commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly environment for residents and businesses,” Wahab said.

He assured that calm and sanity were gradually returning to Ikoyi and Victoria Island.

He commended the citizens for their continued cooperation while charging them to report should they notice any suspicious activity. “Together, we can build safer communities,” Wahab noted.
