Abia To Get Smart City

African Rebirth Vision has proposed to build a Smart City in Abia State.

It said a state survey indicated that the project would be economically viable.

President and founder of the firm, Chuka Nwokoro stated this when he led a delegation of the management team on a business visit to the governor, Alex Otti in the state.

He said the company, which built the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, had assembled the best and leading companies around the world as partners to deliver on the project.

Nwokoro, who requested for a land from the state for the building of the city, commended Otti for the achievements his administration had recorded within the short period.

In his response, the governor described the proposed city as a welcome project, noting that the administration was making efforts to launch the state into a digital economy.

Explaining that the proposed city is in alignment with the administration’s agenda, he added “I am quite pleased to learn about this vision and it ties very well with our own vision”.

“I am also amazed to hear about your building technology where you said you can deliver homes in two to three weeks. That is amazing and it’s something we would like to explore.

“Of course, the smart city is something that is on the table at the moment. We have identified a few locations, at least two, one in Umuahia, another around Osisioma Aba”.

He said many Nigerians in the Diaspora had reached out to indicate interest in what the administration had earlier called Diaspora village, but the administration thought it shouldn’t be restricted to them.

“So, we changed the concept. What we will do is to sit down with you to see how we can marry what you have brought with what we have,” he said.
