Actionaid Nigeria Provides Support To 725,147 Women, Girls In Kebbi

Actionaid Nigeria (AAN) has said it provided direct support to no fewer than 725, 147 women and girls across communities in 18 local government areas of Kebbi State.

AAN Country Director,  Andrew Mamedu stated this yesterday at the 5th WVL-N project closeout and dissemination ceremony held at Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi.

Represented by his Deputy Country Director, Hajiya Suwaiba Muhammad Dankabo , Mamedu commended Governor  Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu of Kebbi State,  Ministry of Women Affairs and other ministries for providing opportunity to work in the state.

According to him,  Actionaid under its Women’s Voice and Leadership Nigeria (WVL-N ) project is a transformative initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) which celebrated its 5th closetout anniversary in order to recall the remarkable strides  made in advancing the rights and well-being of women and girls across Kebbi State and North West region.

Mamedu added that the intervention of the project has touched the lives of countless women,  girls,  persons with disabilities and their families by providing safe spaces and legal support for survivors of gender-based violence to promoting Women’s economic empowerment and justice as well as enhancing their participation in Leadership roles.

Governor Nasir Idris who declared the ceremony opened commended the organisers for their intervention which empowered many vulnerable people in the state and North West zone.
