The Osun State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointments of Wale Abbas and Dr Adekunle Isaac Omoyele as the Chairman and Corps Commander of the Osun State Security Network Agency, Osun Amotekun.
The House of Assembly confirmed Abbas, a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, as the new Chairman of the Amotekun Governing Board while it also confirmed Dr. Omoyele as the Corps Commander.
DAILY POST recalled that the state governor, Ademola Adeleke had earlier nominated AIG Abass as the Amotekun Governing Board Chairman and CSP Isaac Omoyele, retired as Corps Commander.
Their appointments followed the expiration of the tenure of the pioneer Corps Commander, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi retired.
The governor had forwarded the names of his nominees to the state House of Assembly for the necessary legislative approval.
The confirmations came after the nominees were screened by the lawmakers on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
The screening process allowed the House to assess the qualifications and suitability of Abbas and Omoyele for their respective roles.
Speaking after the confirmation, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun congratulated the new appointees, saying, “I urge both of you to leverage your wealth of experience to enhance security across the state.
“I urge you to foster strong working relationships with other security agencies, with the goal of making Osun State a safer place.”
Speaking with journalists, the new Amotekun Board Chairman, AIG Wale Abbas, pledged to work closely with all stakeholders in the state to combat crime and ensure the security of lives and property.
