Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has shared injury updates regarding the fitness of three pivotal players—Bukayo Saka, Riccardo Calafiori, and Jurrien Timber—before their upcoming Premier League match against Liverpool on Sunday.
During a pre-match press conference held at the Sobha Realty Training Centre on Friday, Arteta expressed cautious optimism about the potential availability of all three players for the crucial fixture. However, he also acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding their readiness.
“We are going to put in every effort possible to ensure they are available for selection, but the situation remains quite uncertain,” Arteta remarked.
The coach added, “Bukayo Saka has recently participated in light training sessions on the pitch. While we are hopeful, it’s still unclear how much progress he will make by Sunday. We will closely monitor his situation in the coming days.”
As for Riccardo Calafiori, Arteta mentioned, “He underwent several tests yesterday and is scheduled for additional assessments today. Once those results come in, we will have a clearer understanding of his fitness level.”
Regarding Jurrien Timber, Arteta stated, “This will be the first training session where he might have a chance to be involved with the team. He has been sidelined for an extended period, so we will need to evaluate his condition carefully before making any decisions.”
Note that the Arsenal vs Liverpool Premier League clash will take place at the Emirates Stadium at 5:30 p.m.
