The Councillor representing Kirawa Jimini Ward, who is also the speaker of the Gwoza local government council, Bukar Umar Aji, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

Aji also solicited the support of the security operatives in providing adequate security to the farming community to enable them sustain their means of livelihood.

Chairman of Kirawa Development Association, Yakubu Mabba Ali, who spoke to our correspondent, said the attack on farmers will further compound the challenges faced by the communities that are rebuilding after years of insurgency.

The latest attack underscores the ongoing security threats faced by rural communities in the area.

The terrorists have been targeting farmers during the farming and harvesting periods with a bid to scuttle government’s efforts to ensure food security through agriculture.
