Cross River CP Orders Arrest Of Woman For Assault In Viral Video

The Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Augustine Grimah, has directed the immediate arrest and investigation of a woman seen in a viral video physically assaulting another woman identified as Queen.

The disturbing footage, which has sparked widespread outrage online, shows the victim enduring severe physical abuse, leading to significant public concern.

Grimah responded swiftly on Thursday from Calabar, emphasizing that the arrest is crucial for the police to uncover the details surrounding the incident and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

Speaking through the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, Grimah highlighted the importance of addressing the incident depicted in the viral video, which shows Miss Queen being assaulted by a group of women in a hotel room.

A letter from the Cross River State Police Command, dated August 22, 2024, and bearing Ref. No AZ: 5250/CRS/PPRD/VOL.17/247, confirmed the commissioner’s directive.

The letter stated, “The girl, visibly half-naked in the video, is being flogged for reasons that are currently under investigation so that the perpetrator of this act can be brought to justice.”

Grimah also urged those in the hospitality industry to exercise greater vigilance by profiling and conducting background checks on their guests, a measure he believes is crucial to preventing such incidents on their premises.

The letter added, “This step is crucial in preventing such disturbing incidents from occurring within their premises.

“The Cross River State Police Command assures the public that the outcome of the investigation will be communicated promptly. We remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and upholding justice in our society.”

Meanwhile, the victim is currently been provided with necessary medical attention and is receiving treatment in one of the hospitals in Calabar metropolis.
