Dakore to sue blog for calling her Senate President’s ‘side-chick’

Popular Nollywood actress Dakore Egbuson- Akande, is leaving no stone unturned to clear her name in the alleged love affair between her and the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, as alleged by an online blog, Gistlover.

Dakore who is married to Olumide Akande, son of Harry Akande, a billionaire businesses man; has therefore issued a stern warning and a threat to go ahead with an aggressive law suit against the publishers, if they did not retract the story they published against her alleging that she is one of the side chicks of Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The mother of two gave the stern warning through her counsel.

An angry Dakore denied the assertion via a video she posted on the social media explaining that she has never met Senator Akpabio before. She also added that she is happily married with two kids and would not take the lies told against her by the blog lightly.

She also promised to give N5m to anyone with hard evidence that she has ever been with the Senate President.

The letter from her Counsel reads:

”We act as legal representatives for Mrs. Dakore Egbuson Akande (“Our Client”). And write regarding the subject matter aforementioned.

It has come to our attention that a suggestive and libelous post bearing our Client’s image and likeness emanated from a social media platform via this Instagram handle:“@Gistloversblog as well as other associated handles@Gistloversblog_mediaoutletand@Gistloversblog_mediahouse”.

“This letter serves as a formal cease and desist notice demanding that you immediately remove the incriminating post containing a picture of our client, falsely connecting her to the Senate President of the National Assembly of Nigeria; Senator (Dr) Godswill Obot Akpabio as well as false remarks on Instagram.

Let it be on record that our client is happily married to Mr. Akande and has been for many years, earns an honest living as an actor and media personality and has never met the said Senate President in person or otherwise.

Such libelous information has the potential to tarnish our Client’s reputation. Your actions in spreading such misinformation are both damaging and unlawful. You will refrain immediately from making any further defamatory statements about our Client.

Your slanderous remarks are actionable under the law per the provisions of Section 375 of the Criminal Code Act. Failure to comply with this demand will leave us with no choice but to pursue aggressive legal actions against you. These actions may include seeking damages, injunctive relief, and legal costs incurred due to your defamation.

We expect your full and prompt compliance with this cease and desist demand within the next 24 (twenty-four) hours of receiving this notice. We shall monitor the situation closely to ensure corrective action is taken.”

In the same development, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has also denied the online report alleging that he has numerous girlfriends. He made this clarification at the floor of the red chambers on Tuesday; Akpabio denied the allegation and explicitly stated that he only has one wife who is enough for him. “I have only one wife and she is enough for me.” He noted.

You will recall that a blogger Gistlover caused internet sensation after they published the names of some notable celebrities allegedly to be the side chicks of the Senate President Godswill Akpabio. They include; Nancy Isime, Hilda Baci, Wanneka and Ini Edo, amongst others.
