The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, has reiterated the resolve of the state legislature to partner with other arms of government in ensuring good governance, peace and prosperity in the state.

The Speaker stated this in Asaba, when he played host to the presiding judge of the Asaba branch of National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Justice O.A. Ogunbowale, who paid a courtesy visit to the state assembly.

Guwor, flanked by some principal officers of the House, said improved and sustainable welfare of Deltans remains a top priority in the state assembly.

The Speaker explained that the symbiotic relationship between the three arms of government in Delta State is largely instrumental to the peace, robust infrastructural development and social-economic growth and stability in the state.

Stressing that the 8th Assembly under his watch would continue to strengthen its collaboration with relevant stakeholders towards the overall prosperity of the state, Guwor also posited that the state has been favoured by God.

He emphasised that the state does not take for granted God’s love for the people, hence the reason for an existing law that set aside May 29, every year as a day of Thanksgiving to return all glory to God.

“Delta is one of the states we can boldly say that God loves so very much. That is indeed the reason we are succeeding here in Delta.

“The state remains on a path of growth, prosperity and sustainable growth. Asaba is peaceful, the entire state is peaceful.

“We at the 8th Delta State House of Assembly shall continue to legislate for peace and good governance in the state and ensure that the state is very habitable for Deltans and visitors to the State,” he said.

Earlier in her brief remarks, the presiding judge of the Asaba branch of National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Justice O.A. Ogunbowale, told the Speaker that the purpose of the visit was to familiarise herself with the office.

While urging members to remain focused in achieving more progress in the state, Justice Ogunbowale acknowledged the friendly atmosphere in Asaba and called for sustenance to encourage greater peace and development in the state.
