Durbar: Katsina Govt Queries Emirate Over District Heads’ Absence

4 months ago 45

Katsina State government has demanded an explanation from the Emirate Council over the absence of some district heads at the recent Eid-el-Kabir Durbar.

The query letter signed by the director of administration and supply, Rabiu Jibia sought reasons from the emirate for their non-participation in the celebrations held on June 16 and 17, 2024.

Reacting, the Katsina Emirate Council spokesman, Alhaji Iro Bindawa, explained that the query was specifically served to the erring district heads for not attending the ceremony and not the emir or the emirate.

He recalled that, during the previous Durbar, the governor warned that district heads had no excuse for absenteeism as far as the emir participated.

“It’s unfortunate that only 27 district heads participated in this year’s Eid-el-Kabir Durbar, which in effect made the government write and send the query letter to the emirate to give reasons why the remaining district heads were absent during the Durbar.

“So, the letter was served to the district heads to give reasons for not attending the event and not the emir,” he added.

Lawyers in the country questioned the authority the Federal. Executive Council, FEC, relied on to negotiate minimum wage for workers.
