Eden Group has launched an initiative aimed at bolstering food security through the distribution of e-Moringa organic fertiliser to tackle Nigeria’s agricultural challenges exacerbated by high fertiliser costs and scarcity,

Chairman of Eden Group, Dr Michael Ashimashiga highlighted the need for input support to farmers with the initiative amidst rising cost of food across Nigeria’s 774 local governments.

He emphasised that the initiative by Eden Group, encompassed various subsidiaries including Eden Moringa productions aimed to provide accessible and affordable fertiliser solutions to Nigerian farmers.
Ashimashiga also outlined a flexible payment option to ease financial burdens on farmers, allowing them to pay in instalments.

According to him, the initiative has already garnered attention for its potential to enhance crop yields and soil fertility while reducing reliance on imported synthetic fertilisers.

He said, “In response to the prevailing challenges faced by our farmers due to the unavailability and high cost of conventional fertilisers, Eden Group has developed a 100 per cent organic fertiliser derived from Moringa Oleifera extract, this initiative not only addresses the fertiliser scarcity but also promotes sustainable agriculture and health-conscious farming practices.

“We understand the financial constraints faced by farmers, especially during this critical farming season,, hence, we are offering a payment structure that accommodates gradual payments over a period, ensuring that every farmer can afford our organic fertiliser.”

An agronomist affiliated with Eden Group, Dr Shuaiba Adamu also emphasised the nutritional benefits of Moringa-based organic fertilisers and hinted at future plans for international collaborations.

“We have already begun scientific assessments in collaboration with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture to validate the efficacy of our organic fertiliser, this includes comparative studies with other fertilisers to ensure our product meets global standards,” Adamu stated.
