The Edo State chapters of the All Progressives Congress and the Labour Party have said the Africa Polling Institute poll results which gave the lead to People Democratic Party as the September 21 governorship election draws closer.
The state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie on Friday said the poll result would not pass an accuracy test.
He said, “The report of the institute cannot pass the accuracy test due to the fact that the indices used to conduct and arrive at the result were not made public.
“The campaign, the APC has done in Edo and the number of persons we have spoken to in the 192 wards and 18 local government areas shows that the APC is in the lead.”
Similarly, the Publicity Secretary of the LP, Sam Uruopa, also questioned the accuracy of the poll.
He said, “The African Polling Institute polling result is just one of many polls conducted ahead of the election. While we acknowledge the result, we do not entirely believe in its accuracy because it does not reflect the true position of things on the ground.
“Our own internal polls and grassroots engagement suggest a different outcome. Olumide Akpata is the most popular and widely accepted candidate by Edo people.”
