The deputy spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, has advised the lawmaker representing Borno South, Senator Ali Ndume, to team up with other lawmakers in rebuilding Nigeria.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, Agbese expressed disappointment in Ndume over his recent comments against President Bola Tinubu’s government.

Ndume had during an interview, lamented the current economic situation in the country, stating that the government was not doing anything to address hunger and other crises bedeviling the nation.

The upper legislative chamber subsequently sacked Ndume as Chief Whip of the Senate.

Reacting, Agbese said that the demotion of Ndume as Chief Whip was a standard parliamentary practice worldwide.

He urged Ndume to “embrace the principles of teamwork and collaboration, rather than seeking to divide and distract the government from its laudable reforms”.

“Some persons don’t have the understanding of the parliament and the executive as two parallel lines of necessity.

“Members of the House of Representatives are carrying out their duties with the highest level of maturity, thanks to Mr. Speaker’s pro-Nigeria posture to leadership.

“Support the President and the National Assembly in their efforts to rebuild broken trust and deliver on their campaign promises to Nigerians.”

Agbese who is representing the Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu Federal Constituency, Benue State, also stated that the 10th National Assembly is working with President Bola Tinubu to rebuild the trust of Nigerians.

“We are committed to working together to address the challenges facing our country, and we will not be distracted by individual interests or personal agendas,” Agbese concluded.

“We appreciate the support and trust Nigerians have placed in us, and we will continue to work tirelessly to justify that trust,” he added.
