Police officers at the Lekki toll gate ahead of #EndBadGovernance protest

Nigerian publisher and activist Dele Momodu has called out the government’s show of force in response to planned protests, contrasting it with the ongoing security challenges facing the nation.

In a statement on Thursday via X, Momodu stated, “So Nigerian government can mobilise this kind of force and military hardware, yet bandits and kidnappers are on rampage everywhere.”

The activist’s comments come as authorities have deployed significant security personnel and equipment in anticipation of #EndBadGovernance demonstrations which commenced today. Momodu’s comment follows a video showing many police officers at a yet-to-be-identified location.

Meanwhile, PUNCH Online has reported that the demonstrations have begun in Abuja and Lagos, among others.

Posting further, Momodu stated, “The good news is this government has already acknowledged and guaranteed the success of the protests inadvertently.”
