#EndBadGovernance Protests: Detained Minors Have Been Wronged, They Should Be Compensated – Ndume

Borno South Senator, Ali Ndume, has called on the government to apologize to some minors who were arrested, detained and charged to court in respect to the #EndBadGovernance protests which rocked the country in August.

Speaking on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television Politics Today, Ndume said the arrested minors have been wronged and should never have been arrested.

He added that what the government needs to do is not just rehabilitation but must also include compensation as their rights have been abused.

“These minors are not supposed to have been arrested. And it is not an issue of rehabilitation now. It is an issue of compensation, because they have been wronged.

“Their rights have been breached. I think the government needs to apologise to them and then pay them some compensation so that they will start their lives.

“That is the best, not to take them somewhere to say that you want to rehabilitate them,” he stated.

Senator Ndume pointed out during the programme that he is not saying the action of the minors was right, but that their status should be considered.

I’m not saying that they are all right, but these are minors,” he added.

Meanwhile, Naija News reports the arrested minors have been released from custody following a directive from President Bola Tinubu.

They were also taken to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa ahead of the planned reunion with their families.
