The manager of Chelsea, Enzo Maresca, has expressed the club’s intention to strengthen their striker options as they finally agreed on selling Remelu Lukaku to Napoli.

Just like previous coaches at Chelsea, Enzo Maresca didn’t have plans for Lukaku who spent last season on loan at Roma. Hence, he had to reunite with his former coach, Antonio Conte who is now in charge of Napoli.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Chelsea and Napoli had reached a verbal agreement over Lukaku’s move, which will cost the Italian side a €30 million fixed fee plus add-ons up to €15 million for €45 million potential package. The Belgian striker will sign a 3-year deal at Napoli until 2027.

Ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League match against Wolves on Sunday, coach Enzo Maresca noted that the club is still in the market for a striker.

He said: “If we have the chance to bring in a nine that can help us and make the difference… then, we are gonna try.”

Meanwhile, coach Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Robert Sanchez is Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper for the Premier League matches, while Filip Jorgesen will likely be featured in the UEFA Conference League and domestic cup competitions.

“If the level continues to be the same, then probably Robert will be Premier League starting goalkeeper and Filip in the Conference League or the domestic cups,” Maresca said.
