FG Declares Monday, Tuesday Public Holidays For Sallah

The federal government has declared Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18  as public holidays to mark this year’s the Eid- El- Kabir celebration.

Making the declaration on behalf of the federal government yesterday, the  minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo congratulated all Muslims at home and in the Diaspora on the occasion.

This was contained in a statement by signed by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, in Abuja yesterday.

He urged the Muslim Ummah to continue to imbibe the spirit of peace, kindness and sacrifice as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him) and use the period to pray for unity, prosperity and the stability of  the country.

The minister added that the President Bola Tinubu administration is committed to safeguarding the  lives and property of all Nigerians and enjoined all Muslims and Nigerians in general to support, co-operate and join hands with the president in his effort to diversify the economy and progressively accelerate the pace of the nation’s economic recovery.

Meanwile, President Bola Tinubu will celebrate the Eid- El- Kabir in Lagos, according to a statement by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale.

“The president will mark the occasion in prayers and reflection on advancing the transformation of Nigeria in line with his Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.
