FG Extends Fire Service Recruitment Exercise

The federal government has reversed its previous announcement regarding the conclusion of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) recruitment on June 15, extending the deadline to September 2024.

This decision follows criticism from job seekers about the government’s silence after the initial June 15 deadline passed.

Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Ja’afaru Ahmed, posted on the Board’s X handle, explaining that a nationwide manpower audit by Services under the Board caused the delay in the recruitment exercise.

The recruitment process, which began in late 2023, was initially set to conclude on June 15, 2024. The delay and lack of communication caused anxiety and frustration among applicants.

To address these concerns, Ahmed apologized for the delay, attributing it to the recent completion of a manpower audit across the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

He assured that the next stage of the recruitment exercise would commence in August and be completed by the end of September 2024.

Ahmed, said, “The board wishes to apologise over its inability to complete the process by 15th June, 2024, as earlier intended.

“This is due to a nationwide manpower audit exercise carried out in the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, which was just recently concluded.

“The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board wishes to inform the general public that it will commence the next stage of the recruitment exercise in August, and will conclude the exercise before the end of September, 2024.”

Ahmed also stated that all shortlisted candidates would be notified of the next stage via the phone numbers and email addresses provided during the application process.
