AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori is in discussions to join Tottenham Hotspur this January, according to Sky Sports. The 25-year-old, who previously played for Chelsea, is among the options Spurs are considering as they look to bolster their defense ahead of Deadline Day.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed the club’s intent to sign a defender before the 11pm deadline on Monday. The move comes amid a series of injuries that have left Spurs’ defense depleted this season.

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge revealed that early talks have taken place, though it is still unclear whether the deal would be a permanent transfer or a loan.

“There have been early discussions, and we’re not yet sure if it would be a permanent deal or a loan, but Fikayo Tomori is one of a number of options Spurs are considering,” Bridge said on the Transfer Show.

The need for reinforcements has been urgent for Tottenham, with defender Radu Dragusin suffering a knee injury during Thursday’s Europa League match against Elfsborg. Additionally, Cristian Romero is still recovering, and Micky van de Ven only recently returned to action.

Tottenham is keen to avoid further defensive setbacks as they aim to strengthen their backline for the remainder of the season.
