FRSC returns over N1 million, valuables to accident victim’s family

The Federal Road Safety Corps has returned a sum of N1,034,010 and other valuables to the family of Mr Najeem Abiodun Babalola, a victim of a fatal car crash that occurred on June 11, 2024.

According to a statement signed by SRC Adamu S Ibrahim, Abuja Airport Unit Commander, and shared on X.com on Thursday, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Chorie Mutaa, presented the items to the victim’s mother in the presence of other family members.

The crash, which involved a Lexus 350 salon car and two motorcycles, claimed the lives of Mr Babalola and two others. The victims were confirmed dead at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital.

The statement said, “The Sector Commander RS7.1 FCT, Corps Commander Chorie Mutaa presented the sum of one million and thirty-four thousand, ten Naira only and other valuables to the mother of late Mr Najeem Abiodun Babalola in the presence of other family members.

“Mr Najeem was a victim of a fatal crash that occurred on Tuesday 11 June 2024 at about 50 meters away from Iddo Sabo U-turn along the Abuja Airport junction – Giri route.

“The crash which involved a Lexus 350 salon car and two motorcycles claimed the lives of Najeem and two others. The victims were confirmed dead at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital after a rescue team of Abuja Airport Unit Command who went for rescue, recovery and traffic management took them to the hospital.

The Sector Commander commiserated with the family and emphasized the importance of obeying traffic rules and regulations.

He also commended the Abuja Airport Unit Commander and his team for their rescue efforts and presented them with commendation letters.

“The Sector Commander commiserated with the mother and other relatives present over the loss of Mr Najeem and highlighted the need for motorists and pedestrians to always obey traffic rules and regulations.

“He also Commended the Abuja Airport Unit Commander and his team that went for the rescue operation. He thereafter presented Commendation letters to the Unit Commander and the team that carried out the rescue operation.

The family expressed gratitude to the Sector Commander and his team for their honesty, patience, and service to humanity, particularly noting the professionalism exhibited by the Unit Commander and his team in trying to contact the family despite the victim’s damaged phone.

‘The mother of the deceased and other family members present thanked the Sector Commander and his Abuja Airport Unit for their honesty, patience and service to humanity.

“They recounted the professionalism exhibited by the Unit Commander Abuja Airport and his team while trying to get in touch with the family members as the deceased phone was damaged due to the Crash.”

The returned valuables found in the victim’s ash-coloured bag included, two POS machines, one Tecno phone, one power bank, five ATM cards, A lantern and a USB
