Super Falcons forwards Monday Gift and Rinsola Babajide were among the goals as their club UD Tenerife hammered Sevilla 4-1 in a Primera División Femenina Game Week 2 fixture at Campo de Fútbol de Adeje, Adeje, on Saturday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Gift weighed in with a brace, opening the scoring in the 22nd minute, assisted Babajide for her team’s second goals in the 28th minute, and completed her brace on 40 minutes, as they completely overwhelmed their visitors, who pulled a goal back on 61 minutes through Nazareth Martín, six minutes after Bicho made it 3-0 for Tenerife.
It was Babajide’s first goal of the campaign, while Gift’s brace was also her first in two rounds of matches into the new season.
Next for Tenerife in the series is a trip to Espanyol for week 3 fixture at Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque.
Meanwhile, their Nigeria team Toni Payne is looking forward to her second match for Everton after ending up on the losing side in their friendly 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa on September 8 following her transfer from Sevilla in the summer.
