Gunmen have abducted three people at the Enugu State College of Health Technology in the Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State on Thursday.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident on Saturday.
Ndukwe said the police received information about the abduction and immediately responded to the scene, rescuing two victims.
He added that three others are still missing, and vigorous operations are ongoing to locate and rescue them, as well as apprehend the abductors.
According to him, a preliminary investigation proves that the victims were driving out of the college when the seemingly targeted incident occurred.
The policeman also condemned a viral video that claimed countless students were kidnapped at the health college, describing it as false and an act of mischief aimed at misleading and creating panic.
Ndukwe said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has ordered the operatives to ensure that the missing victims are found and rescued, as well as arrest the perpetrators.
Uzuegbu cautioned against such mischievous and malicious social media narratives aimed at creating unwarranted panic and jeopardizing police operational and investigative actions over such incidents.
