The Director General, Media and Publicity Kano Government House, Malam Sunusi Bature Dawakin, on Thursday laid the foundation stone for Sadiq Maddibo Memorial Quranic Centre toward immortalising his son and father.
During the foundation laying ceremony of the school at Dawakin Tofa town, Bature said the centre would be dedicated for learning and teaching of Qur’an.
In a press statement, the Director Public Enlightenment, Kano Government House, Usman Gwadabe, disclosed that the Director-general assured that the centre would also propagate Islamic knowledge, pointing out that the money for the building would be sourced from his personal income as well as donation from friends, family and relatives.
He added that the remittance of Sadiq medical bills and the money sympathisers donated during the condolence visit would also be used for the take-off of the centre.
The centre, according to him, would serve as formal education centre, particularly for English and Mathematics to enable the students be conversant with contemporary education.
Bature said that Goni Ishaq Maratai would supervise the centre as he is very vast in Quranic teaching spanning over four decades.
“I have been in his school in the last 35 years and he (Goni) is still engagedin teaching, I wanted to promote what he has been doing manually with the support of this centre even though it is going to be small, because it is a dream and lifetime ambition, we will continue to develop it as soon as we acquire more resources.
It should be recalled that Sadiq Maddibo died a week ago after losing the battle with sickle cell anaemia for 15 years.
