Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba, and his wife, who were kidnapped last week Friday on their way to Abuja, have been released.

The Guardian learnt that Aghamba’s aide, A.B.K. Offiah, who was travelling together with the family, was unlucky, as the kidnappers killed him.

It was gathered that the family were released on Saturday.

Governor Charles Soludo’s press secretary, Christian Aburime, confirmed the development, saying no ransom was paid for their release.
“The release was achieved through divine intervention,” he said.

The spokesperson for Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, could not be reached for comment.

Meanwhile, family members and well-wishers in the commercial city of Onitsha were thrown into mourning yesterday following the return of the remains of Offiah.

It was also gathered that Offiah, a youth leader, holds the traditional title of ‘Kpajiego’ in the Onitsha community.
