The House of Representatives Committee on Digital and Information Communication Technology will meet on Tuesday to hold a stakeholder meeting on the process of developing a national digital economy.

The stakeholders meeting, which will witness the active participation of the media, will focus on the national digital economy and the e-governance bill currently before the National Assembly.

The event will be hosted by the House Committee in partnership with the Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Crimes, chaired by Senator Shuaib Salisu.

According to the Chairman, House Committee on Digital and Communication Technology, Adedeji Olajide, the stakeholder engagement “is in line with the commitment of the National Assembly to an inclusive process of lawmaking,” stressing that the event “will be the first of a series of engagements by the leadership of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrimes and the House Committee on Digital and Information Communication Technology in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy.”

The bill aims to promote the use of technology to enhance public service delivery, improve transparency and accountability, and drive economic growth.
