Super Eagles veteran defender, Leon Balogun has expressed admiration for his countryman, Cyriel Dessers, who has once again emerged as a key player for Glasgow Rangers.
In a crucial match against Hearts on Sunday, Cyriel Dessers netted the only goal, leading his team to a hard-fought 1-0 victory.
This goal marked an impressive achievement for the 29-year-old forward, bringing his total to three goals in just three matches for Rangers under the guidance of manager Philippe Clement.
Last week, in a thrilling encounter against Motherwell, Dessers also scored the decisive goal, contributing to another 1-0 win for his team. Additionally, he demonstrated his attacking prowess in the UEFA Europa League, managing to find the back of the net during a challenging draw against Olympiacos last Thursday.
Balogun, a fellow club teammate, has high hopes for Dessers moving forward. In a recent interview with Rangers TV, he emphasized the importance of having Dessers in top form, stating, “We need Cyriel up there.”
Balogun expressed a desire for Dessers to further capitalize on his scoring opportunities, believing that it would benefit both the player and the team as a whole.
“He is trying, and I am genuinely pleased for him to have found the net three times in a row. This streak is certainly good for his confidence, and I hope that he continues to build on this momentum and delivers even more outstanding performances in the future”, the out-of-favour Nigerian defender said.
