West Bromwich Albion striker Josh Maja is determined to rediscover his scoring touch ahead of Sunday’s Championship clash with Sheffield United, having failed to find the net in his last seven appearances, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Nigerian forward, who enjoyed a bright start to the season with 10 goals in his first 16 games for the Baggies, has been unable to add to his tally since netting in the 2-2 draw against Norwich City on November 23.
His goal drought coincides with West Brom’s recent dip in form, which has seen them drop to eighth place in the Championship standings following back-to-back defeats, including a 2-1 loss at Derby County on Boxing Day.
The Baggies travel to second-placed Sheffield United on Sunday with an interim coaching team led by club legend Chris Brunt following Carlos Corberan’s sudden departure to Valencia on Christmas Day.
Despite Maja’s recent struggles in front of goal, he has contributed two assists during this period, including one in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield United earlier this month.
His overall contribution this season includes 10 goals and two assists in 23 appearances.
The trip to Bramall Lane presents a significant challenge for both Maja and his teammates, as they look to close the 13-point gap to the automatic promotion places. The Blades have been formidable at home this season, losing just once in their last 11 Championship matches at their Yorkshire base.
