The Oyo State Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC), Kayode Babayomi, has said Governor Seyi Makinde has yet to give good governance to citizens of the state.
Kayode Babayomi accused Governor Makinde of deceiving Oyo residents with social media posts. He called him the most packaged social media Governor in the country.
He stated this on Monday in an interview with News Central. The AAC chairman decried the state of education, agriculture and infrastructure in the state.
“Governor Makinde’s administration has just been so, so bad. Rating him is just as if we don’t actually want to get into the real issues. Coming to Oyo State or taking a look at Oyo State, what do we have to be proud of? We have nothing.
“All we’ve been seeing is social media packages. But we call him social media governor, the most packaged governor in all Nigeria. Is it agricultural? Is it education? With the landmass we have in Oyo State, I’m telling you, there should be surplus of food in Oyo State,” Babayomi said.
He explained that students and teachers learn and teach under poor conditions in the state. He further accused Governor Makinde of unseriousness in his infrastructural projects.
Babayomi maintained that the residents of Oyo State know the Governor has not performed good governance.
“Taking a look at the educational sector, we’ve seen nothing. We still have dilapidated structures. Teachers don’t have classrooms. Students are still facing north and west. Students of three classes are still making use of a classroom, a dilapidated one for that matter.
“And talking about the roads, infrastructures, we’ve seen nothing. All we’ve seen about the roads is just a grading of good roads, roads that were there before. There are some roads in the Oyo State that have been touched twice within just five years of Makinde’s administration.
“All we see is he goes to social media and people start praising him. The good people of the Oyo State are looking at Makinde as just a social media-packaged Governor that has nothing to show the people,” he added.
