Matawalle commends Tinubu for signing Northwest Development Commission Bill

Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has commended President Bola Tinubu for the recent signing into law of the North-West Development Commission (Establishment) Bill, 2024.

According to a statement issued by the Minister’s spokesman, Ahmad Dan Wudil, the landmark legislation was poised to accelerate socio-economic development and infrastructure rehabilitation across the North-West geopolitical zone.

“The North-West Development Commission is mandated to facilitate the reconstruction of roads, houses, and business premises ravaged by multidimensional crises.

“It will also address critical issues such as poverty alleviation, literacy improvement, ecological challenges, and other related developmental needs in the North-Western states,” he stated.

The statement noted that in lauding this initiative, Matawalle emphasized the significance of President Tinubu’s commitment to fostering national unity and equitable development.

“President Tinubu’s leadership is exemplified by his unwavering dedication to fairness, equity, and inclusive governance.

“By assenting to this critical bill, he has demonstrated a profound commitment to addressing the diverse developmental needs of our nation, ensuring that no region is left behind,” he added.

He further emphasized on the importance of the commission in reinforcing national security.

“The reconstruction and development efforts in the North-West will not only enhance infrastructure but also bolster social stability and economic resilience.

“These are pivotal in mitigating the root causes of insecurity and fostering a conducive environment for sustainable development,” he noted.
