NDLEA Intercepts 230,600 Tablets Of Tramadol, Arrests 106 In Kano

The Kano State Command of the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced that its operatives intercepted 230,600 tablets of Tramadol along the Zaria-Kano Road.

Spokesperson of the Command, Sadiq Maigatari, in a statement on Saturday stated that the Command has also arrested 106 suspected drug peddlers at several notorious drug joints in the state during a three-day operation in preparation for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Maigatari added that the Command’s targeted locations included Sani Abacha Stadium, Karkasara Area, Sani Abacha Youth Center, Dorayi Area, Dan Agundi graveyard, Brigade Mini Stadium and the infamous Filin Idi drug den.

He added that the operations resulted in the arrest of 106 suspects, among which 11 were identified as major drug dealers even as illicit substances comprising Cannabis Sativa, Rubber Solution, ‘Suck and Die,’ Exol tablets, codeine syrup and some others were recovered.

“These illicit substances were intended for distribution and use during the Eid-Alkhabir celebrations,” the statement said.

While urging the public to report any drug-related activity to the nearest NDLEA office, Maigatari pointed out that the Command under the leadership of Abubakar Ahmad is commitment to eradicating the scourge of drug abuse and trafficking in Kano state.

He noted that the successful operations conducted ahead of the Sallah celebrations are testaments to the Agency’s dedication and determination in curbing the menace of drug abuse under the leadership of the the NDLEA’s Chairman/CEO, Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd).
