About 19 Corps members out of the 1,354 Batch B 2023, Stream II of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, were on Thursday sanctioned with various forms of punishment, including extension of service year.

Two members were also honoured with State Coordinator’s medal of commendation for good performance in Bayelsa State.

The State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, who presided over the event enjoined the Corps members to continue to uphold the ideals of the NYSC.

Represented by the Deputy Director, Mr Killa Adegboyega, she commended them for their immeasurable contributions to Bayelsa via their primary and secondary assignments especially in education, health, agriculture and infrastructure.

She said, “To our dear Corps members, as you step into the next phase of your lives, carry with you the spirit of service, unity and patriotism that has defined your service year.

“The skills, experiences and friendships you have gained will serve as a strong foundation for your future endeavors. Embrace the opportunities that lie ahead with confidence and determination, and continue to make positive contributions to our society.”

She further advised the Corps members to avoid night travels while going home, and also admonished them to only board vehicles at government approved motor parks.
