The management of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora has assured concerned students from the Faculty of Management who experienced delay in their mobilisation for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps that they will soon be mobilised.
A statement on Sunday by the college’s Public Relations Officer, Olawore Opeyemi, quoted the Rector, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi, as explaining that the delay in the accreditation of some of the programmes was as a result of COVID-19 lock down which prevented the past management from inviting the supervising body over polytechnics in Nigeria from visiting the institution for the accreditation then.
Olawore said the new management under Akinlabi’s leadership eventually secured the accreditation of the National Board for Technical Education for the accreditation of Higher National Diploma programmes in the Faculty of Management, while efforts are ongoing to normalise the shortcomings as a result of the delayed accreditation.
The rector revealed that students of the college since 2014 have been enjoying prompt and regular mobilisation for the NYSC scheme.
The statement read, “The rector revealed that students of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, since 2014 had been enjoying prompt and regular mobilisation for the National Youth Service Corps Scheme.
“He appealed to the affected students to exercise a little more patience as efforts of the management in this direction will soon yield positive results.”
“He further revealed that management will not renege in ensuring prompt accreditation of the institution programmes.”
Akinlabi pointed out that between June 3 and 5, 2024, the NBTE visited the institution for resource inspection of 13 programmes and institutional accreditation.
He promised to update stakeholders as soon as the management’s effort yielded positive results.
