Former Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has expressed his strong support for Ademola Lookman in his pursuit of the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
Ademola Lookman, currently playing for Serie A club Atalanta, has earned a spot among the ten players nominated for this year’s edition of the CAF award.
The 27-year-old Lookman has already made significant strides in his career. Note that he was the only African player nominated for the 2024 Ballon d’Or. He secured the 14th position in the final rankings.
Onazi, a former national team member, firmly believes that Lookman stands out as the leading contender to take over the mantle from Victor Osimhen as Africa’s best player.
He praised Lookman’s exceptional skills, noting his unwavering hard work, dedication, and discipline as qualities that set him apart from his peers.
“Lookman is an exceptional talent. His hard work, commitment, and discipline set him apart”, the former Nigeria international told Brila FM.
“I am thrilled with his achievements and his nomination for the Ballon d’Or, which is a testament to his quality.
“CAF should prepare the trophy for him; it’s not just about him being Nigerian, but because he truly is the finest player in Africa right now.
“His performance last season was phenomenal, and he deserves every recognition he gets.”
