A woman, Aisha Abubakar, has been arrested by security operatives in Katsina State for being in possession of a cache of bullets. A video circulating online showed that Abubakar was apprehended aboard a state government-owned mass transit bus.
The suspect confessed she was planning to ferry the ammunition to terrorists but claimed it was the first time she would embark on such a trip. She said her decision to carry out the act was borne out of hunger. She also alleged that a stranger had entrusted her with the ammunition, but added that she didn’t know him or his whereabouts.
“It was given to me by a man. I don’t know him, his name or where he lives,” she said, adding that she didn’t know it was a cache of bullets.
Asked about the intended destination of the bullets, Abubakar said she was instructed to leave them beside a “stream along Hayin Dantumaki” in Katsina State, where someone else would pick up the parcel .
