The latest confirmed monkeypox virus is on a 25-year-old lady.

The two cases have made the state government activate the State Incident Management System involving multiple agencies to curb the outbreak and oversee public measures.

At its meeting, the response team said the patient’s condition had improved.

Osun State Commissioner for Health, Jola Akinola said, “I don’t entertain any fear whatsoever. COVID-19 came we fought is successfully,” adding that the monkeypox virus would not be different.

The team said it would ensure contact tracing and embark on public enlightenment on the preventive measures against the new variant.

According to the epidemiological summary presented at the meeting, this year, the state has so far recorded 47 suspected cases of monkeypox, with 45 coming out negative and two confirmed cases.
