The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday, announced the suspension of his Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies, Mr. Emmanuel Adebisi.
The reason behind the suspension was not stated in a statement signed by Adeleke’s spokesman, Olawale Rasheed.
However, it said the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Kazeem Akinleye would investigate Adebisi and report back to the governor.
“The Governor has also directed immediate suspension of the Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies, Emmanuel Adebisi, pending outcome of investigations by the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Kazeem Akinleye,” the statement read.
But Adebisi in a Facebook post, on Wednesday, gave a hint as to why he was suspended.
In the post, Adebisi denied the alleged diversion of 70 bags of rice meant for distribution to members of the civil society groups in the state during the last Sallah and insisted that he remained part of the Adeleke administration.
The post read, “It has come to my attention that recent reports circulating in the media regarding I Comrade Adebisi Emmanuel, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Civil Societies, are misleading and untrue.
“The claims suggesting I, Emmanuel Adebisi, has been suspended and removed from a WhatsApp group are categorically false.
“I continue to serve diligently in my capacity as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State, with an unwavering commitment to my responsibilities.
“Any insinuation of my involvement in misconduct, particularly relating to the alleged diversion of 70 bags of rice intended for Osun Civil Societies during the Eid-el-Kabir festival, is entirely baseless and without merit and the handwork of some bitter political fools, and I challenge anyone with fact on this to bring it out.
“I, Comrade Adebisi Emmanuel remain an integral part of the Osun Government team and continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity and service. We urge the media and the public to disregard the misinformation being circulated and refrain from spreading unsubstantiated claims that could tarnish the reputation of dedicated public servants.”
